The Home Storage and Organization Market Tracker™ collected data on consumer purchases from all retail and online channels of distribution and retailers. Conducted in the U.S. between October 3 – 6, 2014, the survey’s general population sample included 740 respondents who had purchased a home storage and organization product in the previous quarter.
The Market Tracker includes nine product segments:
- Baskets, bins, boxes, crates, and totes
- closet, clothing, and shoe storage
- garage storage
- craft/hobby storage
- holiday storage
- home office, desk, and file storage
- laundry organization
- shelving units and storage cabinets; and storage carts, drawer carts
- cubby / cube storage units
1,500 U.S. households are surveyed at the end of each quarter to assess what, if any, home storage and organization products they purchased in the previous three months. Respondents who purchased home storage and organization products during the period are then asked questions about what they purchased (including type of product, price, and brand), where they were purchased, why they purchased, and how they made the decision on what products to purchase.
